Webinar! Advancing Progress in Malaria Control: Optimizing the collection, analysis, and use of entomological data for vector control decision-making.
We invite you to join us for an engaging webinar as we discuss efforts under The PMI VectorLink Project to advance progress in malaria control through optimizing the collection, analysis, and use of entomological data for vector control decision-making. Elodie Vaja (UCSF Institute for Global Health Sciences), Neil Lobo (The University of Notre Dame Eck Institute for Global Health), and Joseph Chabi (PMI VectorLink Cote d’Ivoire) will discuss the use and application of the entomological surveillance planning tool (ESPT) in entomological data…Find out more »
From start-up to full-scale distribution, The PMI VectorLink Project has worked with country governments to develop and implement school-based ITN distribution campaigns. In this webinar, country representatives from Zambia and Ghana will share their country experiences with school-based distribution in the pilot and mature phases of the campaign development. We will also discuss SBD standard practices and introduce new tools that country governments can use in their SBD implementation. Presenters: led by Jane Miller, PMI VectorLink; Ketty Ndhlovu, NMCP Zambia;…Find out more »
WORLD MOSQUITO DAY: FOCUSING ON THE INVASIVE AN. STEPHENSI IN ETHIOPIA An Asian malaria vector is invading Ethiopia and other parts of sub-Saharan Africa. If this invasive vector continues to spread, large parts of Ethiopia could see dramatic increases in incidence of malaria. Lives are at stake. Where do we go from here? The U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative VectorLink Project’s Senior Entomologist Aklilu Seyoum will host a compelling discussion with leading entomologists as they share their latest research on…Find out more »
Data Drives Decision-Making in Vector Control Data is used to monitor and adapt to insecticide resistance trends and facilitate the use of new tools related to expanded indoor residual spraying (IRS) and insecticide-treated net (ITN) products. In this webinar, three national malaria program vector control leads, from Cameroon, Madagascar, and Zambia, will discuss their techniques for stratification and targeting of vector control interventions, monitoring resistance to insecticides, and monitoring and optimizing vector control coverage, with facilitation by the U.S. President’s…Find out more »
To sustain and expand the success of vector control, decision-makers need up-to-date, detailed entomological data at a fine scale. The ability to collect this data in hard-to-reach locations can be restricted by national malaria program capacity and a shortage of trained professionals. A decentralized approach using community-based entomological surveillance (CBS) presents an opportunity to increase data collection and sample sizes in multiple regions and to fill gaps in capacity needs. This webinar will discuss the advantages and challenges of CBS…Find out more »
